Have only had about a month, but seems good. However (I realize this is just a fan and housing basically) it is quite loud even on the lowest setting. The two lights give nice illumination on both settings. Grates are super easy to remove and replace. Power switches are a little loose feeling and could probably be smoother to operate. But overall a good unit.

We purchased this range to replace an old one that had a locked up fan. The fan at level 1 is quiet enough to continue watching TV or talking while you cook. The higher levels are a bit loud but WOW do they work and help keep food smells from going out of the kitchen! We love the sleek look of the underside of the hood, it definitely makes our kitchen look more modern. The lights are a great feature as well to help light the food up.

After looking at several other ventilation options, we decided on this unit. We like it's appearance and the relatively low profile. It provides excellent lighting, and the ventilation is great. The lower fan speeds are more adequate for most cooking needs. On high speed, it's fairly loud, as you might expect from a commercial-style ventilator, but, at that level, it not only takes care of cooking on the cook top, but also does a decent job of ventilating the kitchen, too. We've only used it at that speed when we needed some heavy-duty ventilation and didn't need to be in the kitchen.
We're very happy with this ventilation system!

We selected this venthood for our brand new home. Just after 2 years of light use, it went bad. The blower/fan turns on, but it hums, rattles and no longer pulls air. We've lived in other homes with far more reliable and long lasting blowers. Needless to say, we're extremely disappointed.

Never used my fan in the past. Salesperson encouraged me to use it. The sound level is not offensive, even though I only regularly use the lowest speed. I don't fry foods, but there is still residue from cooking and this minimizes the clean-up.

This hood looks great and works very well. Love having the extra lighting over the stove, and i love that it has 3 fan speeds (quiet, louder, loud). Not so huge like others, and not so bold looking that it becomes a focal point of the kitchen. Looks great but doesn't distract.

I brought this one from a local dealership store in Chicago area. It took 2 weeks to arrive after it was ordered. It was installed by the dealership. everything good so far! within 2 days it stopped working, phone call to dealership, tech arrives 1 week after the complaint and states " need to replace motor". What ? This thing cost more than $1000 and last only 2 days, unacceptable. I said, we need to replace the whole unit not just the motor, It has been about a month and waiting for the order to arrive. bad choice! stay away from this product.

I bought this about 2 months ago to replace my Thermodor which the fans never worked well. This has great suction, but is fairly loud on the highest setting. The low and medium setting usually is all I need.

Pros: very quiet at low speed. looks beautiful. Cons: Builder grade. Buttons look cheaply design and made. Hard to clean the grease from the grease catcher... only way is in dishwasher, but you have to lay it flat so you kind of have to do a dedicated cycle just for it.

I got this installed in my new home 1.5 years ago. I have had several installation problems initially. I can say that this unit is designed poorly, which was confirmed to me by the Kitchenaid reps I spoke to. The portion of the hood that actually sucks up air is only 14" deep (from the wall). The rest of the front is a nice looking flat panel with two lights which is practically useless. So if your cooktop is like mine (24" deep) then the hood does NOT suck in anything from the front burners unless it's just boiling water steam. Yes, it works fine for the back burners and yes it will hold up a paper towel once you place it against the grille but that means nothing for daily use as the smoke/steam/smell from the front burners just goes around the front of the unit, all over your kitchen/cabinets, not into the grill. I would add that at the highest speed the unit is louder than average which is unjustified for its performance.

The slide buttons to operate the light and fan power are flimsy with a lot of "play" in them. They feel as though they might break off with every use ? yet this was an extremely expensive unit! On top of that, the design is too deep. You. Bump your head on it frequently when cooking. Yes, it works. The fan works and the light works. But way over priced and poor functional design.

I just had mine installed today, I had it custom painted in black to match all my appliances, the power of this hood is impressive, of course it has to be noisy at the highest speed and it was expected, I did a lot of high heat frying and sautéing and had no smoke whatsoever in the house, before this hood all my fire alarms went off when I cooked, could not be happier, good investment!!!
