We like blackened dishes and hot-seared steaks, without the distraction of a shrieking smoke alarm. This vent hood does an outstanding job of exhausting every ounce of smoke coming off our cook top, no matter what.
Installation was easy, too.

Turn that baby on high and cooking smells disappear instantly. Absolutely love it. It is very loud when you use the highest setting, but who cares...house doesn't smell like cooked food.

The hood looks and works very well. Fan covers are easy to remove for cleaning. I like having the option of two levels of light brightness. There are a couple things that keep it less than a 5 rating for me. The light and fan buttons seem flimsy. They are not solid. The fan has a whine at lowest speed. And purely personal, I wish I would have noticed how big the fan overall fan is. It hangs low, I probably would have needed a low profile hood or a taller cabinet space to mount it to. Despite those things I am happy with the
overall professional look.

Great looking hood. I like the under mounted controls to give this hood a sleek, clean-lined design and the motor is quite strong. I returned for a few reasons. The mounting screw holes are located on the very edge of the unit, so you have to screw into the end grain of the cabinet side panels. I don't see how this would be done with particleboard cabinet frame. Mine were plywood and the screws were coming loose. The directions say to install wood filler strips under the cabinet, but there is no way to fasten into the extra support due to the location of the screw holes. If you were to get this hood, I would opt for the wall mount method. Just make sure you have the proper blocking in the wall framing behind the hood. Second, the halogen lights give out great light, but they get HOT! Almost as hot a heat lamps. Third, the control housings for the fan and light switches are very flimsy and rattle around when the switches are used. Luckily the motor was defective on mine and was able to replace with the KVUB600DSS which has LED lighting and the motor can be mounted in the attic for whisper quite operation. Just not a fan of the front mounted controls and lcd display.

I bought this about 2 months ago now and it has been fantastic. When I cook fish or used my new oven for the first time the fan portion got rid of all the smell and smoke right away. I'm so happy to have this in my kitchen it really adds to the classy look I was going for.

I bought this along with a new Kitchenaid 5 burner gas stove and the french door cabinet depth refrigerator. I love them all and this hood is outstanding. It really looks beautiful in my newly remodeled kitchen and is well worth the cost. Yes, it is loud on the higher settings but it will suck any smells and smoke right out of your kitchen. I find that the lowest setting works just fine, and I will kick it up when I'm searing meats. The washable grates are an awesome feature, just pop them out and wash and dry them. The lights provide ample light, but that's my one complaint, they do get hot! I am SO pleased I spent the extra money for this hood, it is gorgeous and works perfectly.

I purchased this range hood three years ago and it has died! It was rather loud but did the job of pulling cooking fumes from the house. But now it will not work, only hums when turned on. I would not buy this appliance again. Very disappointed in KitchenAid.

We are extremely happy with this unit. On high speed you want to step back or you might be drawn up into the unit...just kidding...but the unit has a lot of air displacement. Very attractive and sleek. Great lighting also.

Looks good and does a good job keeping odors out of the kitchen. A little louder at the high setting. Would prefer an LED lighting option as current lights heat rather dramatically even at the lower setting.

The fan works very well and is very stylish looking. I do not like the flimsy control switches that control the light or fan. Plastic and not feeling firm in place . Time will tell if the control switches last. I would give it a 5 star if it wasn't for that.....

I bought this beautiful range hood to match my other large appliances from KItchenAid. It does not fit I would have to get my cupboards removed because the range hood sits to low. I called the store for an exchange or a store credit and they said NO. So now it sits in the packaging that it came in which is a shame as I like the range hood. I'll try to sell it or else give it away to someone who can use it. I will never buy from a store that does not exchange or give a store credit especially when its in the original packaging, its not fair.

We bought this to go in our new kitchen. It does function well but it is loud. Loud enough that I'm looking to replace the fan or find some solution to it. Cooking with it on low makes conversations possible but stepping it up to medium or high is pretty annoying if you want to talk while cooking. It's annoying even if you don't want to talk. Note: We have a Kitchaid dishwasher KDTE404DSS0 that I believe is a great product. I don't want to just be a basher here.

My wife is Chinese and we needed a powerful fan. We absolutely love the power of this fan, the vents which are easy to clean, the vent work which is also easy to clean and the light. It works great and at 200 CFM it is relatively quiet and at 400 CFM it is ok. However at 600 CFM (high speed) it is very loud and regular speech is not possible and shouting is needed. In fairness, we don't need it on the highest setting often but this is our only real complaint. Other than the noise at the highest setting, it is a great product. I should also note that I would buy it again. If you need the power and cook with oil, it is a great product and easy to install. I note the noise mostly because we didn't know beforehand. On the low and medium setting it is ok for noise though and medium is 25% more powerful than other fans.

I purchased this hood fan to replace my builder's grade fan at my new house. My existing hood fan, like most of them on the market, have electric wiring on the right. However, the electric wiring of Kitchenaid hood fan is on the left. To install this Kitchenaid, I would have to hire an electrician to rewire the wiring on the wall. It is an unplesant surprise.

Works well, cheap plastic switch housing cracks

This functions really well and is very powerful. When cooking on our KitchenAid Commercial-Style cooktop it provides excellent ventilation. However, the reason I only give it 3 stars is because there is a cheap plastic housing around the switches that has cracked twice. It cracked within a month of first owning it, and we called tech support and they sent us a new part to install. After installing the new one, it cracked again in the exact same place a week later. I think this may be an issue with the metal expanding and contracting at a different rate as the plastic piece. Anyway, it costs around $60 to replace the piece (which is not covered under the warranty), so I think we are going to just live with the cracks this time. This is the only issue we have had with this product, it if weren't for that this would be a 5 star review. The cracked plastic is purely cosmetic, so if you don't mind looking at it that then go for it. Personally though, I think it makes the unit look kind of cheap and old.

I have had two of these installed - and both of them had issues. The first one was damaged and the second one - the motor doesnt run, and when it runs has a high whining sound, and doesnt seem powerful. The switch was damaged as well

This is a good unit except for the fact the light switch and the fan speed Switch operate very roughly and are not smooth (jerky). Makes you think it is an inferior product every time one uses it.

This fan removes smoke and fumes quickly and efficiently. Noisy when put on top speed but is expected at the CFMs. Like the filters but plastic switches for fan and lights seem flimsy

600 cfm is powerful enough to suck the smoke out from searing meats. It'll suck oil mists. My only warning is the noise. It's quite loud at full blast.
